Walter Russell

When Mind Consciousness dawns in man, God awareness likewise dawns in him, and he becomes illumined with full knowing of the Oneness of Mind of man and Mind of God.

When that day dawns for man, he has command over all the universe, for energy of Mind in him created the universe, and knowledge of Mind in Him controls its energy.

Fear then leaves him, for he knows he has dominion over all things. He can no longer be hurt by man, nor will he hurt man, but the power will be his to prevent man from hurting man by awakening Consciousness in him to Love, even though he may lose one more life to find it.

And he who reads these words with inner vision and inner knowing shall have omnipotent power to save the world of man from himself and bring into being the new age of man's new power.

Walter Bowman Russell (May 19, 1871 – May 19, 1963) was an American polymath, known[1] for his achievements in painting, sculpture, architecture, and for his unified theory in physics and cosmogony.[2][3] He posited that the universe was founded on a unifying principle of rhythmic balanced interchange. This physical theory, laid out primarily in his books The Secret of Light (1947) and The Message of the Divine Iliad (1948–49), has not been accepted by mainstream scientists.[4] Russell asserted that this was mainly due to a difference in the assumptions made about the existence of mind and matter; Russell assumes the existence of mind as cause while he believes that scientists in general assume the existence of mind as effect.[5] Russell was also proficient in philosophy, music, ice skating, and was a professor at the institution he founded, the University of Science and Philosophy. He believed mediocrity is self-inflicted and genius is self-bestowed.[6]

In 1963, Walter Cronkite in the national television evening news, commenting on Dr. Walter Russell's death, referred to him as "... the Leonardo da Vinci of our time."[7] After Walter Russell died (which the Russells referred to as being "refolded"), his wife Lao Russell kept USP going successfully until she herself died in 1988.[8]

The term New Age in its contemporary sense can be traced back at least to 1888. Walter Russell spoke of "... this New Age philosophy of the spiritual re-awakening of man ... Man's purpose in this New Age is to acquire more and more knowledge ..." in his essay "Power Through Knowledge," which was published in 1944.[27]

Russell accepted Richard Maurice Bucke's premise that not only the human body, but also human consciousness, had evolved in stages, that human consciousness periodically made progressive leaps, such as that from animal awareness to rational self-awareness, many millennia ago. Russell believed that humankind was on the brink of making another key, evolutionary leap in consciousness. The next cycle of human evolution, said Bucke, would be from rational self-consciousness to spiritual super-consciousness on the order of that experienced by sages, religious figures, and mystics of the past 2,500 years.

In 1947–48, Russell wrote: “This New Age is marking the dawn of a new world-thought. That new thought is a new cosmic concept of the value of man to man. The whole world is discovering that all mankind is one and that the unity of man is real – not just an abstract idea. Mankind is beginning to discover that the hurt of any man hurts every man, and, conversely, the uplift of any man uplifts every man” (Message of the Divine Iliad, vol. 2, p. 69). Russell’s predictions about what the New Age would bring included “a marriage between religion and science” (MDI p 257). Russell appeared to believe that this "New Age" would begin in 1946, based on a vision he had in 1921.

The most extensive treatment of Russell's ideas are found in his book, “A Course in Cosmic Consciousness.” Russell's ideas have also been digested by others.

Illumination

My ability to prove God as a scientific fact and bring Him within the range of man’s comprehension through incontrovertible evidence of His controlling Presence in all creating things is the result of having fully experienced that rarest of all spiritual phenomena known as the Illumination into the Light of Cosmic Consciousness, during a thirty-nine day and night period in May and June of 1921.

I will not describe that phenomenon here, for it will be fully described in the following pages, except to say that the seat of sensation becomes completely severed from its centring conscious Mind for intervals, followed by intervals of complete severance, one becomes wholly Mind, the One Mind of God, in which exists all-knowledge, all-power, and all-presence. Relatively few such experiences of illumination have been recorded throughout world history.

Naturally, the entirety of the secrets of Creation were mine to know as a complete and consistent cosmogony, which knowing enabled me to envision the universe as a whole. Underlying the creative process of the universe was a fundamental principle of such simplicity that I felt that I could gather the great scientists of the world together and give them that entire principle of such simplicity that I felt that I could gather the great scientists of the world together and give them that entire principle in a few minutes, for I had been aware that for decades science has been searching for such an underlying principle, which would apply to all phenomena.

Mystics

Beyond the genius is the mystic.

The mystic is one who has attained cosmic consciousness by a complete severance of the seats of consciousness and sensation. He is then almost totally unaware of his body and is totally aware of the Light of God centering him. Omniscience comes to him in that timeless blinding flash of light which is characteristic of a complete severance. This experience was described in the illumination of St. Paul. Every timeless flash of intense inspiration which comes to any man is a partial illumination, for inspiration is the manner in which new knowledge comes to man from the cosmos.

Of all mystics, Jesus was the outstanding example of all time. He was the only One in all history to have known complete cosmic-conscious unity with God.

The Bible refers to cosmic-conscious experience as “the illumination” or “being in the Light” or “in the Spirit.”

In all history less than forty cases of partial cosmic consciousness are known, and probably not more that three of these anywhere nearly approached the complete state of illumination experienced by the Nazarene.

Cosmic Consciousness is the ultimate goal of all mankind. All will know it before the long journey of man is finished, but there are many in this new age just dawning who are ready for it in part, if not fully.

Many desire it fully, but it is best that it come bit by bit for the complete severance is very dangerous. The ecstasy of this supreme experience is so great that one does not wish to come back. The power of severance of soul from body is within easy accomplishment, but to step back into the body is very difficult.

(Walter Russell, The Secret of Light, pp 27-28)

What is Art?

What makes someone a master artist is not technical ability per se, but rather the soul qualities that reflect the Soul of Cosmic Mind. … The Soul alone can give out love. The body can render a perfect technical reproduction, but if the love nature of God is not in it, it is not art, for the art of anything is not in the skill of rendering a visible or audible thing but in the beauty and love that only the stillness of the Light of the Soul can give. And herein lies the difference between the genius of the master and soulless mediocrity.

Love is the fulfilling of the law.

GREATEST THING IN THE WORLD

 By Henry Drummond

Every one has asked himself the great question of antiquity as of the modern world: What is the sutnmum lonum—the supreme good? You have life before you. Once only you can live it. What is the noblest object of desire, the supreme gift to covet ?

We have been accustomed to be told that the greatest thing in the religious world is Faith. That great word has been the key-note for centuries of the popular religion ; and we have easily learned to look upon it as the greatest thing in the world. Well, we are wrong. If we have been told that, we may miss the mark. I have taken you, in the chapter which I have just read, to Christianity at its source ; and there we have seen, " The greatest of these is love." It is not an oversight. Paul was speaking of faith just a moment before. He says, " If I have all faith, so that I can remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing." So far from forgetting he deliberately contrasts them, "Now abideth Faith, Hope, Love," and without a moment's hesitation the decision falls, "The greatest of these is Love."

And it is not prejudice. A man is apt to recommend to others his own strong point, Love was not Paul's strong point. The observing student can detect a beautiful tenderness growing and ripening all through his character as Paul gets old; but the hand that wrote, "The greatest of these is love," when we meet it first, is stained with blood. "Love is the fulfilling of the law." It is the rule for fulfilling all rules, the new commandment for keeping all the old commandments, Christ's one secret of the Christian life.

Nor is this letter to the Corinthians peculiar in singling out love as the summum bonum. The masterpieces of Christianity are agreed about it. Peter says, "Above all things have fervent love among yourselves." Above all things. And John goes farther, "God is love." And you remember the profound remark which Paul makes elsewhere, " Love is the fulfilling of the law." Did you ever think what he meant by that ? In those days men were working their passage to Heaven by keeping the Ten Commandments, and the hundred and ten other commandments which they had manufactured out of them. Christ said, I will show you a more simple way. If you do one thing, you will do these hundred and ten things, without ever thinking about them. If you love, you will unconsciously fulfil the whole law.

Youth - A state of mind

Debra laughs with life.

"YOUTH" by Samuel Ullman

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite, for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of sixty more than a boy of twenty. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing child-like appetite of what's next, and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long are you young.

When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at twenty, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch the waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at eighty.

For years, Samuel Ullman (1840-1924) and his prose poem "Youth" have been known and admired by the Japanese.  "Youth"was a favorite poem of General Douglas MacArthur. The poem was on the wall of  MacArthur's office in Tokyo when he became Supreme Allied Commander in Japan. In addition, he often quoted from the poem in his speeches, leading to it becoming better known in Japan than in the United States. However, both the man and his work are largely unknown in the United States, even in Birmingham where he spent the last forty years of his life in service to the community as a businessman, poet, and humanitarian.

I asked and recieved

In an August, 2010 Journal entry I wrote as I prayed.

Please help me to keep a lifted spirit Oh Lord.
I trust in your goodness and grace
to guide me through my days.
Creating many opportunities to live the best life
I can to your Glory.

Help me see I plead.
Hold me close.
Never let me go.

The world is so loud.
This world is so confusing and messed up.
Help me quiet my mind so I can hear
your small still voice
speak to me.
I am listening.

Within a moments I heard the voice softly speak.

BE STILL

And then I was given the story of Jesus on the sea with his disciples. Which I felt drawn to instantly write in my own words in my journal.

Jesus and his disciples were on a boat at sea. They all had been asleep resting comfortably as they were at total ease on a calm sea. A storm awoke the disciples and panic struck them as their boat felt threatened by the turbulent waters, high winds and pounding rain. They were afraid for their lives and totally out of control of their once calm emotions. All had been well in their eyes and mind only a few minutes before.

Jesus was fast asleep and resting calmly which totally shocked them. They shook Jesus to alarm him of the danger they felt, as they thought it only appropriate that he as well should participate in their nightmare. When Jesus awoke and realized what was happening he was angry and perturbed. In exasperation he stood and demanded THAT ALL BE STILL!
Immediately the water calmed and the wind died. The men as well calmed as the storm dissolved before their eyes. They were in total awe. Awe at the power Jesus had just displayed. Among themselves they ask "Who is this man whom the sea and sky obey?"
Jesus is still exasperated with the whole situation and admonishes the group. "Why are you afraid you men of little faith? Where is your faith? You still don't get it do you? After all this time with me FEAR got the best of you. Don't you remember my words? BE NOT AFRAID." His command to "BE STILL!" was directed as much to the fears of the men as to the raging waters. As their fear had risen so had the storm.

LIKE A SPONGE

Consider your mind a sponge. A dry thirsty sponge readily absorbing whatever you dip it into. Our minds are so. So easily waved by the power of suggestion. You are what you think. You think what you absorb from your surroundings. Guard your mind. Guard your thoughts. Be aware of what you are soaking up.

You have the power to choose your thoughts. You have the power to choose the messages your mind drinks in. Claim the best and throw out the rest.

Keep it to yourself.

Don't talk about your dreams and desires to others. No one else can see the unique vision that you so sharply hold in mind and thus knowingly or unknowingly they will throw seeds of doubt about. If you then consider and ponder the opposing ideas, seeds of doubt will be planted in the most fertile soil of your mind. Each time you consider these "weed seed" ideas you water them and allow them to sprout. If left to flourish, weed seed will suck the life out of the seeds of your most positive and wonderful dreams.

Perhaps this is why we have been told to keep our wishes a secret: Tell know one the wish you make as you blow out the candles of your birthday cake or toss a coin into a well or fountain. Your secret can only be safe with you. Keeping your wishes secret allows them to flourish in the sacred garden of your mind.

Your wishes and dreams for yourself are yours. Keep them safe and hold them dear. They are so very valuable to you and as you shower the soil of your mind with sunny thoughts of all that is good ,you are feeding your most wonderful secret dreams and empowering them to shoot up out of the rich soil of your mind and flower gloriously for all to behold.

What's Next?

"Our Vacation Villa" by Debra Clemente

I don't know what's next. I'm doing my best to be comfortable with that. How? By praying. By giving up my life to God. Doing my best to play by his rules. Living one moment at a time and breathing deeply. It feels so good to breathe in fresh air. Doing this makes me thankful. Thankful I'm breathing easy. Thankful for the breathe of life.

No one really knows what's next. They may think they do, but they don't. They can't, try as they may. When so much energy is given to thinking about what is next, one misses the opportunity to enjoy the breathe of life they are now experiencing. I believe that most fears arise out of not knowing what is next. Until one learns to let go and let God then one will be constantly battling for a sense of control and playing our possible scenarios of "what's next" in one's mind.

I recently read that the phrase "Worst-case scenario" outnumbers "Best-case" scenario" nearly four to one in modern usage. We have believed that by thinking through all the possible bad things that could happen and the imagining how we would deal with each possible bad situation we are helping ourselves. The ego does not like surprises and is comforted by feeling that it has mentally prepared for anything that could challenge it. I am am now seeing that we have had it all wrong.

It is said that "What one thinks about one brings about." So what would you rather spend your time doing. Thinking about or preparing for the worst or the best? Hmmm. You see, if you think the worst-case it will surely be your case. So just in case, I'm sticking to the best-case. And as one never knows, I'm giving it up to God as to what's next.

You can't eat happiness

You can't eat happiness.

You can't buy it.

You can't wear it.

You can't drive it, or drink it, or sell it, or steal it.

You can't lock it away.

You can't negotiate for it.

You can't win it, you can't marry it, you can't inherit it, you can't cheat it.

You can't smoke it, or inject it, or rent it or borrow it.

You can't campaign for it or beg for it, or talk other people into giving you theirs.

You can live happiness.

You can create it.

You can be it.

You can give it to others.

You can enjoy it.

You can share it.

You can claim it.

You can have as much as you wish.

You can enjoy it as much as you want, at any time, under any circumstance.

You can work with it, play with it, worship, travel, eat, and sleep with it.

Happiness is yours to live and yours to give, if only you will.

It comes from the inside, and the best way to experience it is to get it flowing out.

Forget about trying and striving to get happy.

Just decide to be happy, and happiness is yours.

Happiness pandemic hits worldwide

This was originally reported as a disease but as I know this is the way we are all meant I a have edited the text to reflect this potentially contagious condition to be one of  TOTAL EASE.  -  Deb Clemente

A worldwide epidemic is spreading worldwide with an enormous speed. The WWO (World-Wellness-Organization) foresees billions of people being infected in the coming decade.

Here are the most prominent symptoms of this extreme condition:

1- The tendency to let yourself be guided by intuition instead of acting under pressure of fear, forced ideas and past conditioned behavior.

2- A total loss of interest in judging others, judging yourself and preoccupation with things that create conflict.

3- A complete loss of the capacity to worry – This is one of the most serious symptoms.

4- A continual pleasure in appreciating humans and things the way they are, which strengthens one’s tendency not wanting to change others.

5- The desire to change yourself so that innate thoughts, feelings, emotions, body matters are managed in a way they facilitate health, creativity and love.

6- Repetitive attacks of smiling : a smile that says “thank you” and stimulates being one with all around.

OOPS - YOU CAUGHT ME SMILING....

7- A growing openness towards childishness, simplicity, laughter and happiness.

8- More frequent moments of communication with one’s soul in non-duality, that creates the pleasant feeling of fulfillment and joy.

9- Finding pleasure in acting as a healer who spreads joy and light instead of criticism and indifference.

10- The ability to effortlessly live alone, related, with family or in a community on a basis of equality, without the need to play a role as executioner or wanting to be sacrificed.

11- A feeling of responsibility and joy to offer the world one’s dreams of an abundant, harmonic and peaceful future.

12- Total acceptance of one’s own presence on earth and the will to choose each moment for what’s gracious, good, truthful and alive.

Do you want to continue living in fear, dependency, conflict, disease and conformism, then avoid at all cost people who display these symptoms, since TOTAL EASE is very contagious. If you already have these symptoms, know your condition is probably very hopeless. Medical treatment can temporarily repress the symptoms, although the progress of the disease is inevitable. There just isn’t an anti-happiness-vaccine.

Because this TOTAL EASE causes the loss of fear of death, a central pillar upon which the belief of materialistic modern-day society rests, a risk of societal turmoil with a complete loss of interest in warfare and to always be right, gatherings of happy people who sing, dance and celebrate life, emergence of people who celebrate their (physical and spiritual) healing, crises of extreme joy and collective emotional vent are at hand.
